Glossing Prep Workflow
An even, receptive canvas for uniform tone deposition. Better shine, better longevity, better grab control.
Service Type
Gloss · Demi · Toner
Added Time
~10 min
Best For
Uneven Porosity · Build-Up Hair
Service Goal
Glossing exaggerates porosity differences. Even the canvas first.
The Glossing Prep workflow creates an even, receptive canvas for glossing by removing buildup, correcting porosity imbalances, and ensuring the cuticle is smooth enough for uniform tone deposition.
The protocol improves shine, longevity, and consistency of gloss results across every client — from corrective toning to cool finishes to longevity-based services.
Chairside Steps
Four steps. Predictable tone.
01
Cleanse According to Hair Condition
If Heavy Buildup, Metals, or Product Residue
Use Pure Detox Clarifying Shampoo.
- Removes barriers that cause patchy tone or reduced absorption
- Ensures the gloss sits evenly from root to ends
If Hair Is Clean and Balanced
Use pH Balancing Shampoo.
- Supports the cuticle’s ideal pH
- Prevents over-cleansing on fine, dry, or fragile hair
How To Use (Either Shampoo)
- Apply and massage through
- Rinse thoroughly
- Repeat Detox if necessary
02
Address Porosity with Chemical Addiction
Why
- Helps reduce the feel of dryness in porous areas
- Promotes more even uptake of gloss pigment
- Prevents ends from over-grabbing tone
- Improves overall gloss longevity
How To Use
- Lightly mist onto damp hair
- Focus on mid-lengths and ends
- Comb through for even distribution
- Do not rinse
- For extreme damage, allow ~10 minutes to absorb
Result: A smoother, more balanced surface that receives gloss tone evenly.
03
Proceed With Gloss Application
How To Use
Apply gloss formula as usual.
Notes
- No adjustment to formula or timing is required
- Chemical Addiction will not dilute or block tone
- Helps create more consistent tone from root to ends
- Ideal for corrective toning, cool finishes, and longevity-based services
04
Rinse and Condition With pH Balancing Conditioner
Why
- Re-close the cuticle gently
- Restore slip and softness
- Leave hair balanced and ready for Atomic or Renew Oil

Always cleanse first — glossing over buildup leads to inconsistent tone.
— Educator Tip, Glossing Prep
